Final Declaration of the International Meeting "Globalization, Social Restructuring, and Social Movements in Latin America and the Caribbean"

In February 1996, Fundación de Investigaciones Marxistas de España (FIME) and the Centro de Estudios Sobre America (CEA) hosted the conference "Left Alternatives to Neoliberalism" in Havana. A second conference, sponsored by the FIME and the Fundación Nacional de Desarrollo del Salvador (FUNDE) was held in San Salvador in June 1997. The Final Declaration of the El Salvador conference is translated below, explaining the purpose of these meetings: a critical rethinking of programmatic alternatives to neoliberalism. The international network envisioned in the declaration has begun its work; a third conference is scheduled for late spring in Havana, Cuba. Like the earlier conferences, the Havana meeting will be open to foundations, associations, and individuals who would like to participate. For more information, contact the Fundación de Investigaciones Marxistas, Calle Alameda 5, 2da izq., 28014 Madrid (telephone/fax: 34-1-4201388) or the Instituto de Filosofia, Calzada no. 251, esq. a "J," Vedado, La Habana, Cuba (telephone: 53-7-32-1887 or 32-9768).
